My grandparents were children of immigrants from Spain who settled in the Chihuahua, Mexico mountains. My mother was a teacher/principal/owner of a private secretarial school and my father was a pediatrician; both were hard workers and highly respected in our community and instigated the same work ethics and morals to us. I grew up in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico and attended private schools and graduated from a Catholic High School; then, I studied Business Administration at the UACH (Chihuahua State University). I came to the United States in 1983 to study a master’s in business administration - Marketing (MBA). I got accepted in the BA program at CSULB, but after a couple of years, I realized that I had a lot to offer as a Spanish teacher and decided to finish my BA instead and became a Spanish teacher. Also, I finish my teaching credentialing and training, then, study a MA in Spanish Literature in the same university and taught Spanish for 2 years at this university also. I worked as a High School teacher at LBUSD for 28 years, teaching the entire curriculum including AP Spanish language and AP Spanish literature. The love and respect for my culture and my students made my teaching experience to become a passion to teach the Spanish culture, the Spanish language, and Spanish Literature because of the positive results on statewide evaluation exams that were some of the highest in the school district; also, the positive impact and empowerment that my students displayed by mastering the Spanish culture and language. I want to transfer all the passion that I have to teach the language to the Spanish Fast program and empower our patrons. My experience and passion for teaching and the Spanish Fast techniques it is a perfect combination for success at any level of the programs. Also, I want to tutor, if I may, to those students struggling with this school subject – Spanish. Hope your experience with our program will be of empowering, knowledge and success.
